Construction under way at Hollywood Park
INGLEWOOD, Calif. – June 16, 2014 – Construction is officially under way on the redevelopment of Hollywood Park, site of the storied former thoroughbred racetrack in Southern California.
The first phase of construction includes preparation of the site and demolition of the racetrack and grandstands. Workers are beginning the required environmental remediation, grading and other steps needed before the installation of infrastructure such as streets, utilities, landscaping and parks.
Hollywood Park will be a 238-acre mixed-use community that will include up to 2,995 homes, 620,000 square feet of retail space and 25 acres of parks. A major park to be called Champion Park is slated to be constructed as part of the first phase. A card-club casino currently on site is open and will remain in operation during construction..
Hollywood Park is three miles east of Los Angeles International Airport and is just minutes from two of California’s busiest roadways. The site is within a 30-minute commute of more than 3 million jobs.
